Percussionist Christoph Sietzen is celebrated in the press as an exceptional talent. He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival at the age of 12 and is a winner of the ARD International Music Competition (2014), the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) and the Young Artist Award 2018, among others. He received the OPUS KLASSIK as Young Artist of the Year in 2019 for his album ‘Incantations’.
Born in Salzburg in 1992, he was taught percussion from the age of six and double bass from the age of eight. He later studied with Bogdan Bacanu (marimba) and Leonhard Schmidinger (percussion) as well as with Josef Gumpinger at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz. Christoph Sietzen also devoted himself intensively to the harpsichord with a focus on baroque repertoire. From 2014–2019 he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and since 2020 at his alma mater, where he was appointed professor in 2023.
