Neue Vocalsolisten
‘T’ stands for God, »O« for the Oceanus. Silvia Rosani draws attention to the refugee dramas taking place in the Mediterranean and at the same time opens up the horizon for ‘Mediterranean perspectives’. For many years, the Neue Vocalsolisten have maintained an intensive dialogue with composer-performers from the Mediterranean region–not least because the voice plays a very special role in Mediterranean musical cultures. Voices from Lampedusa, Cairo, Beirut, Damascus, Istanbul and Palestine paint a picture of a torn space, charged with conflicts and contrasts as well as common roots and longings, which threatens to break the world apart. ‘Where are we going? The sea has neither a destination nor a logic of paths…’ (from T-O)
